The brief
The conservatory had never really worked. Cold from October through to April, stifling in summer and almost unusable when it rained heavily on the polycarbonate roof, it had been locked off from the rest of the house for as long as either of them could remember.
For a family wanting to make the most of a generous ground floor in a Worcester property, a sealed-off room was simply wasted space. Their goal was clear: a modern, energy-efficient living area that would connect the kitchen to the garden and could genuinely be enjoyed throughout the year.
The solution

A traditional brick-and-mortar rebuild would have placed too much structural load on the existing conservatory base, requiring new foundations and adding considerably to the project cost and timeline.
